Impact Manager – Research & Evaluation Team

Job Summary

The Impact Manager will oversee impact-related research and evaluation efforts to understand, improve, and communicate how the NDN Collective ecosystem of organizations advances Indigenous self-determination to build a just and equitable world. This work will include developing impact metrics, documenting and analyzing impacts, ensuring impact data are accurate, timely, and accessible, and using impact findings to inform learning, growth, reporting, and storytelling. The Impact Manager will report to the Director of Research and Evaluation.

The Position

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with staff and teams to create and improve impact data systems.
  • Perform needs assessments and audits within the ecosystem to ensure impact data systems generate the data needed to demonstrate impact.
  • Develop impact metrics that align to and advance the vision, mission, evaluation framework, and theory of change.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and use impact data to inform learning, improvement, reporting, and storytelling.
  • Collaborate with staff and teams to translate data into impact reports, stories, and supporting products that are timely, accurate, accessible, and easy for users to understand and use.
  • Support the team’s annual impact stories project to build the case for our theory of change.
  • Collaborate with staff and teams to help them communicate and amplify our impact to external audiences.
  • Conduct regular reflection meetings with teams to clarify roles and responsibilities, educate them about impacts and related topics, and help them review, interpret, and use their impact findings and reports.
  • Respond to staff requests for impact data.
  • Regularly work to decolonize and Indigenize systems and products.
  • Communicate and work effectively and collaboratively with other staff and teams within the NDN Collective ecosystem.
  • Ensure the Director of Research and Evaluation is fully aware of all activities, issues, and progress.
  • Support the Research and Evaluation Team in other areas as needed.

Who You Are

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience conducting research and/or evaluations using both colonized and decolonized/Indigenous approaches. 
  • Experience using software and platforms to manage research and evaluation tasks, collect and analyze data, and share findings.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven knowledge, skills, and abilities from a relevant background.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, MS Office Suite, online project management platforms, and the ability to learn other systems, software, programs, and applications.
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in spoken and written English required. 
  • Ability to prepare and deliver exceptional quality reports, presentations, and visuals to a variety of audience types internal and external to the organization. 
  • Ability to manage complex systems, resources and coworker/team relationships to meet tight deadlines and ensure effective collaboration at all levels of the organization.  
  • Methodical approach, organizational and project management skills, and ability to multitask and handle tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated professionalism with good judgment and decision-making capability, grace, a proactive approach, and a sense of humor. 
  • Able to work independently at a remote worksite with minimal supervision.
  • Appreciation of and motivation to advance the NDN Collective mission and vision.

This position is salaried, commensurate with experience, at a GS 11 level with a salary ranging from $63,000 to $75,000. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance as well as 401(k) retirement plan, a wellness program, personal leave and professional development.
